The tier of mats you get from salvage depends on the level of gear. 49 is the rec as the T3/4 mats are often worth more than the T5/6 mats (mainly as most people are salvaging level 80 gear which drops T5/6 mats). There are three locations in which there are 2 rich iron ore nodes and 1 rich silver ore node, however these switch with eachother. Other ways to get gold are raids (not the best if you arent comfortable with the content but personally i just join whatever group i feel like and at the end of the week it is around 70gold with like 5 hours spent in total). As others have brought up, you should look into why iron ore costs more than silver ore. Hint: It has nothing to do with the number of ore nodes. Another potential issue with replacing silver ore nodes with iron is that this will create a large problem if silver ore later gets a more prominent use.

When I was farming Iron ore, I was in western/eastern plagelands, and satisfyingly I also found loads of mithirl ore in eastern.
