I have never had a, " little mill" but once you get a mill dialed in with the correct media and charge with (dry) chems it doesn't take long to mill powder to it's peak power. some have tested powder every 1/2 hour and found that a correct mill will get it done in 2 hours. I have been making fireworks for a year now and I love it. Here are two reasons for using lead balls: Reason #1: They will never spark and cause your ball mill explode. First of all, if your ball mill exploded in a neighborhood, you are going to jail! The only "safe" way is to "hypermill" each ingredient (dextrin with the charcoal) separately and then combine them to premeasured water to make a putty ball and screen it to make the grains.
